I’M so happy to meet YOU!

My name is Heidi McGinnis and I’m so happy you’re here! I’m a Go and Tell Gals certified life coach, a wife to Tahd since 2000, and a mom of 3 kids who are all in double digits. We’re unintentional homeschoolers living in central Indiana, and I enjoy photography, running, writing, naps, and coffee on my porch.

Do you remember what you wanted to be when you grew up? I always wanted to be a teacher like the kind Miss Beadle, or the inspiring Miss Muriel Stacey, or even the impassioned John Keating. So I surrounded myself with kids and all things learning that would set me on a course toward becoming an educator.

I chose to focus on the field of health education because I loved learning about and discussing wellness, especially its mental and emotional components. My love for the content area only grew, but unfortunately my love for the nitty-gritty aspects of public school did not. Classroom management, school politics, and being scheduled to the minute were not for me. Even though I felt a little lost at what might come next, I decided to leave public education.

Meanwhile, after four years of marriage, my husband and I decided maybe the timing was lining up to start our family. I moved thoughts of a career to the back burner and quickly had our first child, Gabe, in 2004.

Although we’d hoped to quickly add more to our family, life had other plans for us, and we endured a grueling six+ year journey of infertility and miscarriage. This rocked everything in our entire world—our emotional well-being, our marriage, our faith, and our finances. My professional goals were completely subsumed by our family-building goals, resulting in an era of just doing what we could to survive because the grief and loss were so consequential.

It was with great surprise and relief, then, that we welcomed Isla into our world in 2012, with Jude completing our crew in 2013. On one hand, it was the happily ever after for which we’d hoped. On the other hand, babies are often the easiest parenting is going to get: we’ve faced ongoing challenges as we learned to navigate neurodivergence, mental health struggles, unexpected physical health diagnoses, and the unplanned adventure of homeschooling.

Along the way, I realized public school, with its rooms full of captive-audience teenagers who mostly bide their time–wasn’t the only avenue in which to help others foster wellbeing. The idea of working one-on-one or with small groups reinvigorated me. It was when I learned more about life coaching that I knew I had found the sweet spot where my passion, skills and training intersected. Getting my Go and Tell Gals coaching certification in 2022 made me official! I am so excited and honored to support women as they engage in the coaching process to find freedom, peace, and wellbeing.

I approach life coaching with a deep belief in each of my clients. You are a beautiful, capable human who is made to thrive. You are not broken; rather, you have what it takes to navigate the challenges in front of you.

Joy is your birthright,

though sometimes it’s hard to access on your own without intentional, loving connections with others. Your emotions and behaviors aren’t mysterious or random, too much or too little; they make sense and they serve to protect you when life gets confusing, risky, or overwhelming.

I’m not here to tell you all the things you should change or provide endless new ways to strive and hustle. Rather, I want to help you come home to yourself, to the beautiful, valuable, worthy person you already are so you more fully experience each day through that lens. It would be my privilege to work with you and support you take the next steps on your journey.
